Thales to provide communications design expertise to the US Air Force

Thales Communications, Inc., announces it will provide communications design expertise for the upgrade of the Tactical Automated Security System (TASS). This contract has been awarded by the 642d Electronic Systems Squadron of the U.S. Air Force. As the subcontractor to L-3 Global Security and Engineering Solutions, Thales will design advanced communications modules (CMs) and advanced handheld monitors (HHMs), updating and extending the capabilities of the existing CMs and HHMs, which are also produced by Thales. This will enable Thales’ battle-proven AN/PRC-148 Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (MBITR) - or JEM - to be utilized as the advanced HHM with a simple software upgrade. General Dynamics awarded $23 million for Digital Modular Radios to equip US Navy ships

General Dynamics C4 Systems has been awarded a $23 million contract for AN/USC-61(C) Digital Modular Radios (DMRs), the Navy’s standard communications system for newly constructed ships and submarines. Boeing begins final assembly of 2nd P-8A Poseidon

ITT Corporation announced today that Defence & Security (DS) division of European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. (EADS) selected ITT Communications Systems to provide its SpearNet radio system for the Full-Scale Engineering Development (FSED) phase of Spain’s Combatiente del Futuro (COMFUT), a comprehensive military modernization program. Northrop Grumman receives contract to provide electronic combat systems for Republic of Korea F-15K aircraft

Northrop Grumman Corporation has won a $74.6 million contract to provide 21 ALQ-135M electronic combat systems for the Republic of Korea Air Force F-15K.

“The selection of the ALQ-135M affirms Northrop Grumman’s position as the supplier of electronic warfare solutions for the worldwide F-15 fleet,” said Mark Kula, vice president of Northrop Grumman’s Radio Frequency Combat and Information Systems business unit. “The ALQ-135M is key to maintaining the F-15’s unparalleled air dominance record.” (more…)

Lockheed Martin awarded $80 million production contract for GMS2

The U.S. Air Force recently awarded Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] an $80 million follow-on contract for the Gunship Multispectral Sensor System (GMS2)the electro-optical/infrared fire control system for the AC-130U Gunship.
